Dry Verge Installation

UPVC dry verge is the perfect finish for tiled roofing. A great choice to finish off any roofing project as it provides maximum protection against weathering and pests and will require very little maintenance once fitted. The dry verge helps to neaten up the edges and block the gaps that could allow in water or nesting pests.

It is possible to fit the verges to existing buildings to tidy up the appearance and increase protection. The verges are also an easy and quick solution for new build houses. No need for mortar!

Step-by-Step Fitting Guide

  1. Cut the tiling battens so that only 20-32mm hangs over the gable wall or barge board. Ensure the battens are positioned no further than 85mm from the apex of the roof.
  2. If you are refurbishing a roof and the battens are degrading, just place a batten strip along the verge so that you have a secure fitting to nail the dry verge in to. You will need to remove all of the old under-cloak and mortar bedding prior to this.
  3. Clip the eaves closure into the front of the dry verge unit and position over the first eaves tile. Mark the position of the closure and remove the dry verge unit.
  4. Nail the closure into place with the fixings provided into the fresh battens or alternatively you can use stainless steel fixings with plug and screw into the masonry.
  5. Use the correct left/right hand dry verge and position this over the closure unit and secure into position at both the top and bottom. Nail the verge unit in to the tiling batten.
  6. Clip the next verge in to position over the tiles and first verge. Nail this piece in to place.
  7. Continue working up the eaves until you reach the top, you may need to cut the last piece to fit flush at the apex.
  8. Fix a ridge end cap at the apex and add in a closure comb underneath to prevent any nesting.
