Water Butt, turning waste water into a useful feature for your garden

We will often perceive a broken, and leaking gutter as a problem, and another thing we need to add to our ‘to do’ lists of things that need fixing.

However, this need not be the case, instead of fixing the leak why not maximise it! Utilising a damaged gutter in this way is not only being kind to Mother Earth, and environmentally friendly, but you also get to experience a decreased water bill, and lessen your carbon footprint!

Water Butt may actually decrease your water bill

Not only are water butts easy to obtain from most garden centres, or DIY stores, but also easy to fit, as most of these stock water butt kits,  comes with all the necessary accessories to install the water butt. Water butts come in range of sizes, and styles, and there are even decorative ones available to ensure it doesn’t become an eyesore in your garden.

To install the water butt simply attach an old down pipe at the main source of the leak, or damaged area,  then cut the down pipe, and attach the rain diverter fitting to the down pipe. You will then need to make a small hole in the water butt to attach the connector.  All you need to do now is attach the connector to the rainwater diverter, and wait for it to rain.

Collect, and recycle rain water, to water your garden and plants, attract wildlife using the water for bird baths, topping up ponds or simply use it to clean your car, or windows.

Next time there is a hosepipe ban, and not a cloud in the sky your garden won’t suffer!
