How to Clean Soffits

To keep your pvc soffits well maintained and looking great for years to come, it is important that they are cleaned properly. At Speedy Plastics and Resins we sell two products which are specifically designed for this purpose, cream cleaner and solvent cleaner. Let’s take a look at how to clean soffits using these products:

Cream cleaner is a fast acting, solvent-free cleaner that removes dirt, and stains, and buffs to a deep shine. This product also helps to restore the surface colour of soffits, and other pvc products that it is used on. It is suitable for both white, and plastic veneered pvc soffits.

To apply the cream cleaner you will need a soft clean absorbent cloth, which should be used to wipe over the surface area to be cleaned. To remove stubborn or heavy dirt apply extra cream cleaner to the cloth, and rub the area firmly. Once you have completed this process, buff the surface of your soffits to a bright finish with a clean dry cloth. For health and safety reasons avoid eye contact when using this product. Do not ingest and thoroughly wash hands with soap and water after use.

For extremely stubborn stains and marks that cannot be removed with cream cleaner, Speedy Plastics and Resins also supply a solvent cleaner. This product is specially formulated to remove all types of contamination from pvc soffits and other pvc products. Due to its flammable nature, do not smoke when using this product and use heavy duty gloves when applying this cleaner. The first step is to soak a clean absorbent cloth with the solvent cleaner, and rub the contaminated area of your soffit.

The next step is to repeat the process, making sure to keep the cloth moist with the solvent cleaner. “Scotch Pad” abrasive may be used on damaged areas of pvc soffits, after the user has ascertained that the change in surface appearance of the pvc soffit is acceptable.

The last step is to polish up the cleaned surface of your soffits with a clean dry cloth. It is not recommended to use this product on painted pvc soffits or wood grain pvc sofffits. For health and safety reasons avoid eye contact when using this product. Do not ingest and thoroughly wash hands with soap and water after use.
