Recycling DIY Stuff

When carrying out DIY tasks, most people find,  there are left over material, or tools which don’t work properly any more. Most of us will just discard these items, without a second thought.

Firstly, if you have been luckily enough, to have new equipment bought for you, and your old equipment is still in working order, why not see is there are any local conservation projects in your community, who you think could benefit from being given some second hand equipment, or maybe pass the equipment down to a friend, or family member?

If you have left over material, with a bit of creativity, why not turn it into something practical that the whole family can enjoy making, or using. To get you started here are a few ideas:-

An old shed – with a bit of cladding, and exterior paint, turn an old shed into a Wendy House for the children to enjoy. Maybe you have some spare fascia, or plywood that can be used to put shelves in there, or spare carpet to put on the floor of the Wendy house.

Guttering – some leftover guttering, with a bit of felt, can be used to design, and make your very own unique water fountain.

Flat board – any spare flat board can be used to spruce up an old table, that has seen better days, and turn it into something modern.

Decking – any leftover decking can be used to make stylish planters for the garden, or possibly make a den for the kids to play in.

Plywood –can be used to create boxes. All you need is a bit of planning, a couple of hinges, and a little imagination. Depending on how much ply you have leftover, you could make a treasure chest to store children’s toys, or a small trinket box for little keep sakes. A trip to a local arts, and crafts store, can help turn a simple box into something spectacular.

Equipment – old, and even unusable tools, can be used to make works of art. With a bit of spray paint, and a bit of creativity, turn something normal into a sculpture for your home or garden. Add that edge, and individuality to your home, by using old tools such as spanners for cupboard door handles.

It just goes to show whether it’s the materials, or tools you use, practically everything can be recycled! For further information on recycling DIY stuff, please do not hesitate to contact Speedy Plastics and Resins on local number (0844) 8586670, and our team will be delighted to help.
